If you thought 2021 would close the book on an exhausting 2020 and bring back some form of normalcy, well… You were wrong. In one of the most bizarre weeks, at least politically, we saw major indexes rise to record highs on Friday even after the release of data showing the U.S. economy unexpectedly lost jobs last month for the first time since April.

Moving markets this week was the Georgia Senate runoff, which saw Democrats win two key Senate races pointing to a mini blue wave that has the Democrats winning the House, Senate, and White House. We say mini blue wave because the majority in both the House and Senate are razor thin, but the end result means the Democrats are in control (at least for the next 2 years). Why does this blue wave have the markets flooding higher? There are two key factors at play: The sweep would likely lead to increased stimulus, but with an attempt to roll back the Trump Tax cuts.
