North American benchmarks posted their first negative week in more than a month as investors took profit and rotated out of the high-flying tech sector.

North American benchmarks posted their first negative week in more than a month as investors took profit and rotated out of the high-flying tech sector. We entered September with markets at all-time-highs, having just posted their best August in almost 40 years. At those levels, a pullback was inevitable; A potential downturn, unlikely (i.e. >10%). Why? First, all evidence suggests that we are in the early stages of a new business cycle, a time when equity-market performance is strongest on average.
